Philosophy of Care

Each patient is the expert on their own life; however they may need support and perspective from another to more clearly understand their challenges and possibilities. As a therapist, I will provide a safe environment where the patient is honored as the authority on their own life, desires, goals and progression.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I view challenges from a systemic perspective.  Individuals are strongly impacted by family, culture, community, peers, and significant relationships. By using a systemic perspective we can view how each system may contribute to the presenting problem. As humans, we tend to want our lives to remain homeostatic which sometimes can compound or add to the presenting problem.  We need change to meet the challenges of life.

My role as a therapist is to work collaboratively with each patient to develop insight, teach skills, and find solutions to meet their desired goals and outcomes.
